There is an unidentified (presumed hardware) issue with this server that is causing it to crash sporadically without warning, pattern, or leaving any trace behind as to what caused the crash.

Monitoring has been stepped up on this server in an attempt to more quickly alert staff if it goes down.

We plan to stresstest the server on Saturday (14th Nov) and Sunday (15th Nov) morning between 00:01 and 03:00, so you may experience a degraded performance or additional downtime during those hours.

Hi Ywert

Installing the antispam isn't as simple as plonking on the plugins to squirrelmail - it requires additional configuration of the mail platform to add the support that the plugins actually control as opposed to the plugins solving the problem by themselves.

This has implications that cover a large majority of our user base and as we've only recently ironed out the kinks with cloud0 to make it stable I was in no particular hurry to rock the boat. I will try to have a look again at this over the next week or two.

I'm not ignoring you, I really am that busy - sorry. Sad

Hi,

Since a few weeks I have a problem connecting to the maelstrom-shell using SSH. It gives me a 'connection refused'. Did the port changed or is sshd not working?

Kind regards,

Tjabbo

David,

Apologies for the delay you've experienced. Your support request appears to have been sent to the sales@lchost.co.uk queue, and was not reassigned to the support queue by the person then responsible for monitoring sales and accounts.

I'll send you the direct link to the new control panel location but as a matter of record the old control panel location (http://newmail.lchost.co.uk/vexim) redirects to the new one automatically (https://cpanel0.lchost.co.uk/emailcp), and to my mind the control panel was never linked to from any page on newmail.lchost.co.uk (it's only ever had the webmail links on it).

Phil

Hi there,

I am somewhat disappointed that I opened a support ticket on 3 April 2008 regarding this issue, and in spite of periodic reminders have had no response whatsoever on what I would consider a pretty simple and straightforward issue. The ticket number is XDD-386883.

The issue is as follows:

I have recently taken over as IT Manager for a company who have previously used LCHost for all their e-mails. They had 10 separate accounts for difference individuals within the company, and the admin login allowed me to add, change and remove these accounts as required. This has now been changed, so when I login as the admin account I only get access to webmail for that particular account.

Would someone please let me know how I can now login to remove these accounts as some belong to ex-employees and there is a security issue here if they can still retrieve e-mail actually intended for the company and not them personally using the old accounts.

As I say, I raised this issue with support around 7 weeks ago, and would now appreciate a response as a matter of urgency.

Thank you,
David

NB. I note from other threads that these delays in ticket response are not unusual. All I would say is ... sort yourselves out!

Ok I can understand you being busy, it seems like you run this place on your own? but just not replying to customers having a valid request is just rude.
This spam issue is getting so annoying for me that I am seriously considering moving to another host that does offer better protection/support. too bad cause i always liked lchost.
It is so weird, i practically handed the installationfiles (free!) to you yet you just totally ignore it (& me). Just a simple response can't be too hard now can it?

I am a (old) shell only customter, but with that i did a email account, which ive never needed.

would this mean i should be able to use the smtp server?

username is gigabit

i dont seem to be able to get it to send my mail (tried different usernames gigabit, gigabit@lchost.co.uk etc) which i guess means i dont have access.

Hi Gigabit,

You can use the smtp server your mail is delivered to if you have a lchost package that includes email (this excludes old shell-only customers) - practically all of our servers will accept encrypted authenticated SMTP.

Phil
