hi guys,

since i mainly use webmail (squirrel) to look at my mail i am really wondering why there is no spamfilter? i am quite happy with the size of my penis and do not really want to put those african millions in my bank account Tongue
my question is: is tehre any way to filter on these webmailthinghies?
i have sqyuirrelmail at my work too and that one does have the option to filter for spam, why doesn't lchost's one do this?

Hi,

We have a very good antispam service offered as an additional cost option which quarantines mail before it gets to your mailbox, however if you can find out what plugins your work squirrelmail installation is making use of we can certainly have a look at them.

ok had a quick look and it seems we use the: Sieve Mail Filters you can find the download on http://www.squirrelmail.org/plugins_category.php?category_id=3
we also have notes directory and calendar Tongue all downloadable from http://www.squirrelmail.org/plugins.php
(and they changed the standard squirrelmail logo into our company logo, the possibilities seem limitless! Grin

weird phil, seems you were all too eager telling me about an "additional cost" service but when I actually supplied you with the link to the free stuff you suddenly vanished into thin air?
or was
we can certainly have a look at them
meant literally? (just have a look and do nothing with it...)

Ok I can understand you being busy, it seems like you run this place on your own? but just not replying to customers having a valid request is just rude.
This spam issue is getting so annoying for me that I am seriously considering moving to another host that does offer better protection/support. too bad cause i always liked lchost.
It is so weird, i practically handed the installationfiles (free!) to you yet you just totally ignore it (& me). Just a simple response can't be too hard now can it?

Hi Ywert

Installing the antispam isn't as simple as plonking on the plugins to squirrelmail - it requires additional configuration of the mail platform to add the support that the plugins actually control as opposed to the plugins solving the problem by themselves.

This has implications that cover a large majority of our user base and as we've only recently ironed out the kinks with cloud0 to make it stable I was in no particular hurry to rock the boat. I will try to have a look again at this over the next week or two.

I'm not ignoring you, I really am that busy - sorry. Sad
